(SANFORD, FL) On Wednesday, November 1, from 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. @ The Rink at Northland Church (530 Dog Track Rd., Longwood, FL 32750) almost 200 student government leaders from all nine Seminole County high schools will gather for Youth Summit IX.   The purpose of the event is to begin the new school year with focus and inspiration and to give the student government leaders the opportunity to make plans for the year.

The focus of Youth Summit IX is Digital Citizenship.  Business leaders will share innovative use of technology in the workplace as well.  Speakers include Mr. Kevin Kaufman, FBI, and Dr. Walt Griffin, Superintendent, Seminole County Public Schools.

Breakout speakers will be as follows:

Daryl Holt – EA Sports

Ryan Peetz, Patrick Kelley – IT Department, SCPS

Kristen Falen, Mental Health Counselor

Ashley Cisneros, Fenix Creative Group

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Sameer Hinduja Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Florida Atlantic University and Co-Director of Cyberbullying Research Center.    Dr. Hinduja is a graduate of Lake Howell High School in Seminole County.

To conclude the day, Mr. Ken Peach, Executive Director, Health Council of East Central Florida will guide student leaders in developing an action plan for their individual school to address cyber bullying.
