SCPS DUO RECOGNIZED AS EDWEEK LEADERS TO LEARN FROM

(SANFORD, Fla.) Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is proud to announce that Superintendent Dr. Walt Griffin and Project ELEVATE Director Jeannette Lukens were recently selected to be profiled in the 2017 edition of Leaders To Learn From, Education Week’s annual special report that spotlights innovative school district leaders around the nation.  A profile highlighting their outstanding contributions to SCPS and the tremendous work of Project ELEVATE and Gifted Education Leadership was published on http://leaders.edweek.org on February 22, 2017, and included in Education Week’s print edition on the same day.  Only 14 leaders from across the nation were selected for this year’s report.

The two were selected by Education Week editors from a pool of hundreds of nominees from readers, staff reporters and other education writers, state school administrator groups, and experts in the K-12 field. As part of this recognition, Education Week invited them to be honored at a special Leaders To Learn From event on March 30-31, 2017, in Washington, D.C., at Education Week’s expense, where district leaders and educators from across the country celebrated and learned from their successes in Gifted Education Leadership and Diversity.  The full Education Week article can be found here:  https://leaders.edweek.org/profile/walt-griffin-superintendent-jeanette-lukens-director-project-elevate-gifted-education/
