(SANFORD, FL) Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is pleased to announce that Wicklow Elementary has been selected to represent SCPS and partner with the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in the Disney Musicals in Schools program. As stated on their website, “Disney Musicals in Schools is an outreach initiative of Dr. Phillips Center that develops sustainable musical theatre programs in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole county public elementary schools”.

The partnership between Dr. Phillips Center and Disney Musicals for Schools began the previous year and picked four elementary schools to participate in this innovative and exciting program, one of which was our very own Lake Orienta Elementary School. The program consists of, “a 17-week musical theater residency, led by a team of teaching artists trained by the School of the Arts and Disney Theatrical Group. Each school receives guidance from the teaching artists, performance rights, and education support materials.”

As winners of this opportunity, Wicklow Elementary School will learn how to produce, direct and choreograph a 30-minute Disney KIDS musical. Performances will be held at Wicklow Elementary and a select number from the musical will be held at the Dr. Phillips Center along with the elementary schools from Orange and Osceola Counties who participate in the program. This event will be held at the grand Walt Disney Theater during the Student Share Celebration Dr. Phillips Center will host on May 22, 2018 at 6 p.m.

Once again congratulations to Wicklow Elementary School and all the dedicated and hard-working students, wonderful staff, and proud parents.
