Amy Lockhart, School Board Member
Amy Lockhart, a native of Lighthouse Point, Florida, has called Central Florida home since 1996. She and her husband, Tim, live in Sanford with their two children, Karis (Seminole High School c/o ‘14) and Jake (Lake Mary High School c/o ’19), both of whom attended Idyllwilde Elementary and Sanford Middle Schools.
With a broad base of experiences, Amy has a background in marketing and sales and operated her own consulting business prior to working for the citizens of Seminole County as a member of the Board of County Commissioners’ staff. Her work with local government, knowledge of the public sector’s budget process, and solid working relationships with many different community groups, has equipped her with a unique perspective on educational issues as she continues her tenure on the Seminole County School Board.
First elected to the Board in 2012, and subsequently re-elected in 2016, Amy served as vice-chairman for two consecutive years, and currently serves as chairman. She is passionate about ensuring students have a balanced educational experience that includes real-world internships, protected instructional time and free play recess periods.
Appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Seminole State College District Board of Trustees in March of 2014, Amy provides a valuable relational link for the two top-rated educational entities in Seminole County. She promotes improved efficiencies for both organizations by sharing relevant best practices.
In addition to her regular responsibilities as a School Board Member, Amy also serves on the following boards and committees: Seminole County Value Adjustment Board (vice chairman) Mayors and Managers, Public Schools Facilities Planning Committee (PSFPC), the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools.
Amy has served in various volunteer leadership capacities supporting the great work of organizations such as: Seminole County Young Life, Sallie Harrison Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, the Foundations for both Seminole State College and Seminole County Public Schools, the J. Douglas Williams YMCA, the GFWC Lake Mary Woman’s Club, SafeHouse of Seminole for which she received the 2008 “Leadership Award”, and the Scottish American Society of Central Florida for which she received the 2013 "Brave Lass" Award.
In her “spare time”, Amy enjoys tending her kitchen garden, cooking and researching genealogy. The Lockhart family attends St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
