(SANFORD, FL) – Wilson Elementary is proud to unveil its new STEAM Center on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.  The STEAM Center is a collaborative learning space emphasizing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs.  The existing media center was renovated over the summer by a dedicated group of staff members and local volunteers to provide Wilson Elementary students with a unique creative area that includes a variety of mobile resources for hands-on science, problem-solving, critical thinking, exploration, project-based learning, robotics, and coding.

Project upgrades include:

  • New Collaborative Learning Furniture
  • Addition of a LEGO Wall
  • Enhanced Technology
  • Refreshed Room Paint
  • And More!

“What makes this particular project so unique is that much of it was funded by our surrounding school community through our annual PTA fundraiser.  It’s truly a collaboration of parents, local businesses and staff passionate about our students and their future success that made this all possible.  We can’t thank them enough!” stated Kelly Mitchell, Principal, Wilson Elementary.
