(SANFORD, FL) – Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) will be launching a third Physics Bus at a ribbon cutting event to be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This event will be held at Bentley Elementary School located at 2190 S. Oregon Ave., Sanford, FL 32771. The SCPS Physics Bus Elementary fleet is now complete with a third bus focused on Electricity and Magnetism. The project which began in 2019 with a vision to provide standards-based physics exploration and lab activities to 4th and 5th grade students, continues to engage and inspire students beyond the Mechanics Bus (launched in 2019) and the Optics Bus (launched in 2020).
The bus provides a unique opportunity for students to explore the world or circuits, motors, and electromagnetic fields. Labs invite students to design circuits, explore the behavior of conductors and insulators, and engage with the Physics Bus Van der Graaf generator.
The SCPS Electricity and Magnetism Bus was made possible through gracious donations from the following: Duke Energy, FARO, The Foundation for Seminole County Schools, Epic Engineering, Matern Professional Engineering, Physcira, Dede Schaffner and SCPS School Board Member Amy Pennock.
