(SANFORD, Fla.) Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is pleased to announce its 2019 Teacher of the Year Finalists & Grade-Level Winners:

Samantha Neff, K-5th Math Instructional Coach, Idyllwilde Elementary

Mrs. Neff is a product of SCPS herself.  She began her teaching career with SCPS 17 years ago as a Kindergarten teacher.  Since then, she has taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.  Currently, she serves as the Math Instructional Coach at Idyllwilde Elementary.  In addition, she teaches at UCF and facilitates math professional development across the country.

Leesa Lavender, 7th Grade Civics Teacher, Markham Woods Middle

Mrs. Lavender began her teaching career as a substitute teacher for SCPS back in 2007.  Her passion to help students succeed drove her to a permanent teaching position at Markham Woods Middle School in 2010, where she has taught ever since.  In her years serving students, she has taught World History, Geography, U.S. History, and now Civics.

Julie Delrusso, 9-12th Exceptional Student Education

Ms. Delrusso is a whirlwind of action with the energy to make any task happen.  Her ability to find resources, make connections with business and community partners helps bring out the best in others and goes a long way helping the many students she serves within the Exceptional Student Support Services (ESSS) Department and its many unique programs.

The 2019 SCPS TOY Celebration is presented by the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools and CFE Federal Credit Union.  It will take place on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs (350 Northlake Blvd., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701) beginning at 5:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  During this event, the overall SCPS TOY will be named and will go on to represent the district at the state competition.
