Seminole County Public Schools district mission aligns with AVID’s mission to reach all learners and prepare them for a global society through college readiness.
Idyllwilde, Midway, and Wicklow Elementary began implementation in 4th and 5th grades for the school year of 2014-2015. Student success skills are promoted through the use of WICOR strategies to engage ALL learners in daily instruction. WICOR is an acronym for Writing to learn, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to learn. AVID Elementary is a foundational component of the AVID College Readiness System and is structured around the four essentials: Instruction, Culture, Leadership and Systems.
