Lyman High School PTSA Lyman HS, $250 Lyman*s PTSA will be awarding 2 - $250 scholarships to deserving Lyman Seniors for the 2019-2020 school year.* This scholarship is open to all Lyman Graduating Seniors who are Lyman PTSA Members. Scholarships are awarded to students attending the following Florida Schools: A Four-year College or University (public or private) A Two-year State, Junior, or Community College A Vocational/Technical School Eligibility Requirements: 1. Must be a graduating Lyman High School Senior enrolled in at least 3 classes on campus. 2. Meet GPA requirements (3.0 for four-year college/university; 2.5 for two-year state/community; 2.0 Community/Technical) 3. Must be in *good standing* with Lyman High School (LHS). 4. Must be a PTSA member for 2019-2020 school year. 5. Present a letter of recommendation from your teacher or Lyman staff, a scholarship application, and a completed essay (see below for essay criteria) by February 21, 2020 by 12:00 p.m. to the LHS office in a sealed envelope marked PTSA Scholarship. Essay Question and Criteria: Volunteering: How can I take what I learned at Lyman and make a difference in my community? To qualify for consideration, your essay must include the following: 1. 250-500 words, typed, double-spaced. 2. Correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. 3. A clearly thought out response that completely answers the question. 4. The essay is weighted heavily in the judging process. In the event of applications with similar qualifications, the essay will be the determining factor. Presentation of the winners will take place as part of the Lyman High School Senior Recognition Night in April. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses. Students with winning essays must meet the following requirement for distribution of funds: Proof of acceptance and entry into a post-secondary institution. *Lyman High School PTSA reserves the right to award all or none of the scholarships if submitted essays do not meet ALL eligibility requirements and essay criteria as listed above. 2/21/2020 PDF
