onePULSE Foundation Legacy Scholarships All Students, up to $10,000 When 49 lives were taken, 49 legacies began. Our mission is to create academic opportunities – honoring the aspirations of all 49 Angels – to recipients who embody love, hope, unity, courage and unconditional acceptance. Legacy Scholarship Recipients will be ambassadors of the 49 Angels and the onePULSE Foundation. Eligibility Any person - no matter age, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability or faith - is welcome to apply. Students will be limited to applying for one scholarship. onePULSE Foundation considers many factors when assessing scholarship applicants, including: - Personal story - Financial need- A proven track record of leadership, community involvement and/or work experience - Working for the betterment of the community - Strong academic or self-improvement interest. Preference will be given to applicants who are immediate family members of a Pulse Angel and those who are survivors of the Pulse tragedy. Florida Tech Panther Distinguished Scholar Award All Students, varies Students who qualify for the Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) award are eligible to be considered for a Panther Distinguished Scholar Award, a combination of scholarships and grants that altogether covers FULL TUITION plus facilities and activities fees. The Panther Distinguished Scholar Award is available to a limited number of incoming fall 2020 freshmen who meet eligibility requirements. 2020 Dr. Luis Perez Scholarship All Students, $1,000 In honor and memory of Dr. Luis M. Perez 1928 - 1988 The Physicians Society of Central Florida Foundation is proud to offer the 2020 Dr. Luis Perez Scholarship, designed to aid high school seniors who currently attend a school in Seminole County, and who wish to further their education in the sciences. Preference will be given to applicants with a 3.5 grade-point average or better and who have done well in at least three science courses during high school. Those who knew Dr. Luis Perez realized that he was passionate about many things: his wife and family; the importance of education; his home country Cuba; his adopted country the United States; and his medical practice. All these attributes are reflected in the PSCF Foundation “Dr. Luis Perez Scholarship” award. Preference will be given to applicants with a 3.5 grade-point average or better and who have done well in at least three science courses during high school. To be eligible, applicants must submit a transcript of his/her grades through the first semester of the current school year; a list of extracurricular activities; and an essay of 300 words or less about themselves and their goals for college. 2020 Dr. Willie Newman Scholarship All Students, $1,000 The Physicians Society of Central Florida Foundation is proud to offer the 2020 Dr. Willie Newman Scholarship of $1,000. FAU Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program All Students, Full Ride The FAU Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program is to support first-generation students who come from a low-income home. Qualifying students will be given the opportunity to graduate with their college degree debt-free. To qualify, the student must be a Florida resident and would be a first-generation college student for the fall semester.First-generation refers to a high school graduate with a parent or guardian who did not complete a four-year degree. LIONS CLUBS DISTRICT 35 O YOUTH EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP All Students, $1000 This Scholarship was created by the Lions Clubs of District 35 0 to establish a suitable Memorial to commemorate the untimely death of Paivi Harittu, from Paimio, Finland. Miss Harittu, a Youth Exchange student traveling under the auspices of Lions Clubs International Youth Exchange Program, lost her life in a tragic automobile accident in Orlando on the evening of July 4, 1983. American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year All Students, varies The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarship awards will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each. The scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarship immediately upon graduating from high school and must utilize the total award within four (4) years of their graduation date, excluding active military duty or religious mission. Additionally the American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year will join the Youth Champion Delegation that is honored each August at the Annual National Convention of the American Legion. American Legion JROTC Cadet of the Year All Students, varies ELIGIBILITY: • Student must be a member of a Florida high school approved JROTC unit. • The student must be in their senior year of an accredited Florida high school. • Only one student from each high school JROTC unit will be accepted. Orlando Chapter of Chums, Inc. Scholarship All Students, varies The Chums’ Founders’ National Scholarship was created to honor the people who founded our Organization and to benefit young adults attending college for the first time who have documented financial need. The CHUMS Founders’ National Scholarship is a one-time scholarship award for the recipient. The National Scholarship Award amounts could be from $1,000 to $5,000 awarded after October. 2020 Central Florida Chapter Women In Defense Scholarship Program All Students, $500 - $1,000 Women in Defense Central Florida Chapter (WID CFL), under the auspices of Women in Defense, A National Security Organization, established their Scholarship Program to encourage women in Florida to pursue careers in defense and national security to help protect and defend the United States.
