Summer School

High School Summer Course Options

  • Students are eligible to attend summer school at their zoned high school or take courses through Seminole County Virtual School (SCVS).
  • Students who attend a school on an approved SCPS transfer option may attend Summer School at their zoned school.
  • Daily student attendance is expected to receive credits in all Summer School courses.  The principal has the authority to withdraw a student from Summer School due to non or poor attendance.
  • Discipline problems will not be tolerated during Summer School. Students with discipline problems will be subject to possible dismissal from Summer School. Students are expected to adhere to the Seminole County Student Conduct and Discipline Code rules and regulations during summer school.

High School Summer Opportunities

Summer School 2024

  • Student Eligibility: Summer School Credit Recovery is available to students who previously earned a semester grade of a “D” or an “F” in an academic high school course.
  • Locations: All high school sites will host Summer School Credit Recovery except for Crooms Academy.
  • Dates: June 3, 2024-June 27, 2024 (Monday-Thursday), 7:20 a.m. - 1:05 p.m.

Driver Education – Summer 2024

  • Student Selection & Eligibility 
    • If more applications are received than space available in the course, random selection will take place. 
    • Students must have their learner’s permit to enroll in the course.
    • Students must be eligible for high school enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year and must not have graduated.
  • Summer Course Delivery Model
    • Online Coursework: This is a condensed program, and students must be able to commit to 2-3 hours per day to complete this component.  Session 1: June 3-13 (completion by June 13) OR June 17-27 (completion by June 27).
    • Behind-the-Wheel Instruction: Once the online course is completed, students will be instructed how to schedule the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with our community partner, Florida Safety Council. This course must be completed by August 11, 2024.

    • All portions of the Driver’s Education Summer Opportunity program are FREE for students accepted through the lottery.

Summer School Registration

Summer school at the designated sites is designed for remediation only (except Driver Ed and Seminole Virtual School), for the purpose of retaking courses in which the student earned a semester grade of D or F.  Courses will be offered via PLATO online learning in a computer lab and virtual school (Seminole County Virtual School (SCVS) registration required).  Virtual courses will be offered for both remediation and acceleration through SCVS.

Late registration will be held at each summer school site on June 3, 2024.  During late registration students will be placed in classes on a space available basis.  Students registering after the first day will need administrator approval.
