Transition Support Personnel

Project SEARCH: Seminole County Public Schools' High School Transition Program

Project SEARCH is a collaborative partnership between Seminole County Public Schools, Florida Hospital Altamonte, the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs, Bishop Grady, Inc. and Vocational Rehabilitation. The program is a unique, business-led, school-to-work opportunity for Seminole County students who graduated with a SpecialDiploma and are between the ages of 18 to 21 years old. For one year, participants combine classroom instruction, career exploration, and relevant job-skills training through strategically designed unpaid internships. The program takes place entirely at the workplace.

The internship program provides real-life work experience combined with training in employability and independent living skills, long-term job coaching and continuous feedback from teachers, coaches, and employers. The goal for the student participants is to obtain competitive employment in non-traditional, complex and rewarding jobs.
