In addition to monitoring student progress, FCAT/FCAT 2.0 scores are also used to help in the evaluation of schools and districts. FCAT/FCAT 2.0 scores in Reading, Mathematics, Writing, and Science are used in a cumulative points-system to determine school performance. The percent of those students who score at Achievement Level 3 and above for Reading, Mathematics, and Science, as well as the percent of students who score a 4.0 and above for Writing are added together for a total amount of points, and then given a grade based upon their total points. Additionally, learning gains made from year to year are factored into the overall total.
Please note, high schools will not receive grades until later this calendar year, due to new requirements set forth by the state legislature. Updates on release dates will be provided on this page.
