Substitute Teacher Training

The SCPS Substitute Teacher Training Class is required for all new substitute teachers to Seminole County Public Schools.  Each training class will be limited to 50 participants, and pre-registration for the Substitute Teacher Training Class is required.  Photo id will be needed for admittance to the class, which starts promptly at 8:30 am and ends by 12:00 pm.  You will not be allowed to enter the class, if you arrive after 8:30 am and/or did not pre-register. 

Class dates are listed below.  Please note there will be no class held in the months of   March, May, June, October, and December.

The fees associated with Substitute Teaching are listed below.

Fingerprinting - $81.25

Drug Testing - $25.50

Substitute Teacher Certificate - $25.00


Effective July 1, 2010, the fee for digital fingerprinting, with a five (5) year retention period, increased to $81.25.  This fee is non-refundable.  An on-line employment application must be completed prior to being fingerprinted and/or drug tested.  Substitute Teacher fees can be paid in advance up to 30 days prior to the substitute teacher training class.  Pre-payment of fees may help expedite the application processing time.  Please bring your receipt for payment to the training class.

To begin the process of becoming a substitute teacher, you must first have a valid, on-line application on file not over one year old.  Next, register for an upcoming Substitute Teacher Training Class.  Once your registration has been confirmed, you may print your confirmation page.  Also, you will be directed to download and print the substitute teacher form packet to complete and bring with you to the training class.  If you logout of the confirmation screen before printing the substitute teacher packet, you may go back to the Training Class site, enter your social security number and click the Substitute Teacher Form Packet link under Training Tools.  Here you will be able to open and print the packet of forms.  If you are unable to open and print the required documents, you may obtain a packet in person from the Educational Support Center at 400 E. Lake Mary Blvd., Sanford, FL  32773.
