Intellectually Disabled Services

 Intellectually Disabled Services encompass three major areas;
 mild, moderate, and severe.

Severe deficits in academic learning (reading, math, written language)
Very limited in self-care, social skills, communication, self-direction, etc.
  Semi-independent self-help

  Severe difficulty in learning academics
Severe limitations in adaptive skills: communication, self-care, safety,
  community, etc.
  Semi-dependent upon adult supervision

Gross deficits in all areas of functioning, including feeding,
  toileting, ambulating, self-help, etc.
  Totally dependent upon adult care
Severe expressive & receptive language skills

Students who are intellectually disabled in Seminole County Public Schools
are provided a free and appropriate education, regardless of the
severity of the disability, in the least restrictive environment as
close to home as possible. Instruction is provided by state certified
teachers and supported by teacher assistants. Additional supports are
provided, as needed, by speech pathologists, nurses, occupational
therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers,
adaptive physical education, music, and art teachers in a variety of
settings and environments. Transportation is also provided to
 and from school.
