In the 11am update on Thursday, October 25, the National Hurricane Center advised that Hurricane Sandy was located about 65 miles SSW of Long Island (Bahamas) with sustained winds of 105 mph and is moving north at approximately 16 mph. On the current forecast track it is projected to move through the Bahamas today through Friday evening when it will begin moving northeast, away from Florida.
Based upon the current NHC forecast, the center of the system is expected to remain 200-250 miles offshore east of Central Florida. If this track holds, the forecast for Seminole County is for winds of 20-25 mph today and Friday with possible slightly higher gusts. At this time, there are no plans to close schools, cancel activities, or suspend games and/or evening events.
