Hi. My name is Donna Noll and I have been teaching at Seminole High School since I moved to Florida in 1998. This year I am teaching Algebra 2, Calculus and Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications. A great deal of my personality and my willingness to try new things is a result of being raised the daughter of a US Marine. Moving from one base to another offered me many enjoyable learning opportunities. I want my students to find that same excitement when learning. I find it is easier to encourage students to try to new things if you make them enjoyable – it also makes for life-long learners.
I try to meet my students’ needs as learners. One of the ways I reach my students is through the creation of a fanpage called SemiNoll Math on Facebook. I use a Smartpen to develop pencasts and post them so my students and parents can watch from home. My students then practice in the classroom where I answer their questions and help them make connections between old knowledge and new. On the fanpage, I also post videos, reminders regarding upcoming assessments as well as other events.
I am honored to have been chosen as McDonald’s Featured Teacher and I wish to thank the Board members, our Superintendent, Mr. Griffin, my principal, Mr. Gaudreau, and especially my students. Without their questions and eagerness to try, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
